In an effort to provide Android users with better insight into battery health, Google has introduced a framework for tracking long-term battery statistics in the latest Android 14 update. This update, part of the Pixel feature drop released in December 2023, includes a new 'Battery Information' page accessible via Settings » About Phone » Battery Information on Pixel smartphones running Android 14.

The page offers valuable information such as the phone's battery manufacturing history and charge cycle count, allowing users to assess the health of their device's power source. While the battery health percentage is not currently displayed on this page, Google has included it in the Android 14 QPR2 beta 2 update for Pixel smartphones and tablets.

Users can now navigate to Settings » Battery » Battery Health to view the estimated battery health percentage. This metric shows the current full charge capacity compared to the original full charge capacity of the battery. Google is actively testing the display of the actual charging capacity on this page, and it may be introduced with the Android 15 update.

In addition, the string within the code points to additional battery information that Google plans to offer, including the battery's serial number and component status (original, modified, or unsupported). These updates could become part of Android 15, expected to be announced next year, providing users with comprehensive insight into the state of their device's battery.

A recalibration process can also be introduced, allowing the phone to collect enough data to accurately assess battery health. Keep an eye out for possible messages in the Settings app, guiding users on when to recharge or replace the battery.
