
Starlink by Elon Musk: Revolutionizing Satellite Services in Pakistan?
The caretaker federal government has taken a major step by approving the National Space Policy set to transform satellite communication services in Pakistan.
Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Umar Saif emphasized that multinational companies will introduce satellite services in the country, the Ministry of Defense will approve the issuance of a No Objection Certificate (NOC).

To support this important initiative, the private sector will contribute 6% of its revenue to the government's Research and Development (R&D) fund.
Saif confirmed that the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) will play a major role in granting satellite communication service licenses to interested companies. This development is expected to provide communication services to the people of remote areas of Pakistan through advanced low-orbit satellite technology.

Addressing the potential consequences of unregulated operations in the space sector, the government estimates the annual loss to the country at $40 million.
With the approval of this policy, Elon Musk's StarLink emerged as a potential pioneer in providing low-orbit satellite services in Pakistan, marking a major breakthrough after years of delays.
